„Isa Rosenbergers künstlerisches Interesse ist historiografisch, nimmt sie doch die Geschichtsschreibung, ihre Verkürzungen, Ausblendungen und Umschreibungen selbst in den Blick. Mit ihren filmisch-installativen und fotografischen Arbeiten begibt sie sich oft auf Spurensuche, um dem Verborgenen, Verdrängten und Vergessenen Raum und Sichtbarkeit zu geben, zumeist intersektionaler feministischer und oft jüdischer Frauengeschichte. Vielfach entstehen die Projekte in kollaborativen Prozessen und im multidisziplinären Austausch mit Künstler*innen, Kulturwissenschafter*innen und Zeitzeug*innen. Dabei verbindet Rosenberger das (Körper)Wissen ihrer meist weiblichen Protagonistinnen, deren persönliche, aber auch generationsprägende Erlebnisse mit gesellschaftspolitischen Ereignissen in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart. Gespräche mit Zeitzeug*innen, dokumentarische und fiktionale Modi der Erzählung, performativ angelegte Annäherungen und (Wieder-)Aufführungen erzeugen ein Geflecht aus Zusammenhängen, Kontinuitäten, Unterbrechungen und Synchronizitäten – kurzum: eine multiperspektivische Historiografie, bei der Lücken und Leerstellen konstitutiv sind. Rosenberger verknüpft diese mit aktuellen Fragestellungen und Diskursen: die freiwillige oder erzwungene Migration von Menschen, aber auch Wissen, ökonomische Krisen und Kapitalismuskritik oder der kreative und sich selbst ermächtigende Umgang mit ökonomischen und politischen Widrigkeiten. Auf diese Weise schreibt sich Gegenwart in Vergangenes hinein und wird Vergangenes im Gegenwärtigen lebendig.“*
Isa Rosenberger (*1969 in Salzburg), lebt und arbeitet in Wien. Sie studierte an der Universität für angewandte Kunst in Wien sowie an der Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht und lehrt als Senior Lecturer an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien im Fachbereich Kunst und Bildung.

”Isa Rosenberger's artistic interest is historiographical, as she takes a close look at the writing of history, its abbreviations, omissions and rewritings. With her film installations and photographic works she often sets out in search of traces of history in order to give space and visibility to the hidden, repressed and forgotten, mostly intersectional feminist and often Jewish women's history.
The projects are often created in collaborative processes and in multidisciplinary exchange with artists, cultural scientists and contemporary witnesses. Rosenberger combines the (body)knowledge of her mostly female protagonists, their personal but also generation-defining experiences with socio-political events in the past and present. Conversations with contemporary witnesses, documentary and fictional modes of narration, performative approaches and (re-)enactments create a web of connections, continuities, interruptions and synchronicities - in short: a multi-perspective historiography in which gaps and voids are constitutive. Rosenberger links these with current issues and discourses: the voluntary or forced migration of people, but also of knowledge, economic crises and criticism of capitalism or the creative and self-empowering handling of economic and political adversity. In this way, the present writes itself into the past and the past comes alive in the present.”*
Isa Rosenberger (*1969 in Salzburg) lives and works in Vienna. She studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. Currently she teaches as a Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna at the Institute for Education in the Arts.
